Richmond’s 4th Annual Safe Communities Day

Posted on: 3-October-2010

On Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 SCR held it's 4th Annual Safe Communities Day. It was a very good day filled with weather pleasant enough to be outside and lots of interesting displays from network members including:

Richmond Fire Rescue, Richmond RCMP, Transit Police Canadian Coast Guard, City of Richmond Emergency Programs, Richmond Addiction Services, SUCCESS Richmond Seniors Falls Prevention Network, Physical Activity Line Vial of Life and St. John's Ambulance.

Many thanks to all who participated. Mayor Brodie officially proclaimed October 3-10, 2010, Safe Communities Week in the City of Richmond. Almost 150 pieces of cake had been served faster than you can say Save-on- Foods (who donated the cake). Starbucks donated 100 cups of coffee which were gone in less than an hour. We held a prize draw with 1st prize being a weekend stay from the Hilton Hotel, 2nd prize a Starbucks prize package and 3rd prize - 2 Safe Communities Richmond T-Shirts. Seniors signed up to receive their Vial of Life and children were thrilled to receive tattoos and pins of a fire truck.
All across Canada designated Safe Communities like Richmond are working collaboratively to reduce and prevent injuries and create safe communities for their residents to live, learn, work and play.
